The Health Education Foundation of Canada (HEFC) was established in 2018 by Dr. Erica Frank. Dr. Frank is a Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia, and has founded charitable organizations in the U.S., Canada, and Germany, including NextGenU.org/the Frank Foundation. She hopes to use this whimsical “Vonderdonk” fundraiser to help establish agriculture and arts curricula through HEFC, similar to the free (1st grade to PhD) Science/Health curricula now being offered by NextGenU.org, and used in every country and through half of U.S. medical schools.
When Dr. Erica Frank saw the 2nd to last Curb Your Enthusiasm episode — the episode in which Larry David and others crave the fictional Vonderdonk cheese — she saw an opportunity! What if we could sell associated swag to raise money for Arts and Agriculture Education through the Health Education Foundation of Canada?
ABOUT US
A few years after Dr. Erica Frank moved to Canada in 2006, she decided she wanted to have a direct Canadian philanthropic outlet to support scalable health science education. The Canadian foundation was established initially as “NextGenU.org” from 2015-11-19 to 2018-09-20, and then re-established as a charity, the “Health Education Foundation of Canada” (“HEFC”), from 2018-09-20 to the present, and ongoing.
The Health Education Foundation of Canada was incorporated with the purpose of advancing education and promoting health. It is a charitable organization whose purposes are:
- To advance education and promote health, especially through conducting and publicly disseminating educational and health research, and through providing educational courses, seminars, and workshops related to health, to members of the public.
- To receive and maintain a fund or funds and to apply all or a part of the principal and income therefrom, from time to time, to qualified donees as defined in subsection 149.1(1) of the Income Tax Act (Canada).
